Background

Michael is an expert practitioner and teacher of the 80/20 processes and tools that specializes in breakthrough profitable growth.  Throughout his career, he has deployed 80/20 to over 50 business units in 9 countries, including not only manufacturers and distributors, but also service, repair, fabrication, engineering, rental, and utility businesses.

Michael’s nearly 20 years of experience span P&L leadership, Product Management, Marketing, Pricing, Continuous Improvement, and Mergers & Acquisitions. Many of his roles involved one or more key 80/20 processes.  During his time with Rexnord Corporation (now part of Regal Rexnord), he experienced first-hand how a company goes from not using 80/20 to achieving profitable share gain through rigorous application of its tools and mentality.  Most notably, he led the company in breakthrough aggressive product line growth then repeated the results on an entire vertical. Most recently, he led highly successful 80/20 implementations at PE-backed OTC Industrial Technologies and Arrowhead Engineered Products.  80/20’s success at OTC and Arrowhead led to increased interest from other businesses in the portfolio.  Michael and his team then created robust repeatable processes, training, and tools to further speed and scale 80/20 implementations.  The groundwork for the 80/20 Institute’s 80/20 implementation approach was laid here.

Responsible for embedding scalable, repeatable 80/20 practices throughout the private equity portfolio, accelerating simplification, profit growth, and operational focus.
  • Coach & Advisor, The 80/20 Institute
    Trains internal coaches and business leaders in scalable, disciplined 80/20 methodology. Designed and deployed systems that enabled consistent, repeatable implementation across a diverse set of private equity–owned industrial companies.      Successfully supported end-to-end 80/20 rollouts in four organizations within two years.
